I am extremely excited and grateful to have the opportunity to step into this new role at Associated Black Charities at such a pivotal time. Many of the structural obstacles that exist for African Americans and their families have been exacerbated during the pandemic. ABC has a continued obligation to build on its strong history of breaking down barriers and responding to issues important to African American communities, supporting economic empowerment, and addressing the ever-growing need for equity and access. Listening and collecting important community feedback, sharing the work and impact of the organization, and building community through purposeful partnerships are among my many priorities at this time. I am excited to begin to share specifics of our strategic direction shortly! Our Equity at Work webinar series (more information below), is one of the many pathways and programs in pursuit of equity that we will tread this year. Please join ABC on Tuesday evening, January 31st at 7:00pm for an authentic conversation about the “Angry Black Woman” stereotype, our commitment to confronting it, and guidance on navigating your lived experience with it. We will convene via Zoom and registration is complimentary. Our full January newsletter will be available later this month with a line-up of announcements, initiatives, and additional sneak peeks for 2023. Be sure to sign up for our updates! Thank you for joining me in partnership on ABC’s journey!
